MVP is not interested in running for Vice President in 2016

Business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan on Thursday said he was not interested in running for vice president in 2016 as a possible running mate for opposition leader Vice President Jejomar Binay.

The Vice President has been reported to be eyeing the businessman as his running mate in the 2016 elections.

Pangilinan was at the House of Representatives on Thursday when he was commended by the chamber for his support for Philippine basketball and the Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team in the FIBA world Cup.

“No. I only think about running in the marathon,” Pangilinan said to the reporters at the House of Representatives when he was asked about running for public office.

“I think running the country is quite different from running businesses. For one to make that leap of faith, so to speak is something quite different,” he added.
He said being good at running a business does not translate into the ability to lead the country.

Pangilinan also said he never thought of running for public office.
“I never opened it. There’s nothing to close,” Pangilinan said when Asked if was already closing his door on politics.

Pangilinan said also that Binay personally spoke to him, but he remained firmed to his decision not to be involved in politics.
