Victoria University offers scholarships to ASEAN

MANILA, Philippines—Victoria University of Wellington announced six undergraduate scholarships that are available to students that are citizens of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region that will start in 2015.

The said scholarships will provide opportunities for young ASEAN students with leadership potential and excellent academic record to pursue undergraduate degree in the top University in New Zealand.

The Victoria University is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Ranked First among Universities by the New Zealand government, it has established tradition of excellence in research-based teaching across seven faculties: Architecture and Design; Education; Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; Law; Science and the Victoria Business School. ASEAN undergraduate Scholarships are targeted for students of the ASEAN countries (Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam).

The ASEAN Undergraduate scholarship covers the tuition fees for the first year of study for an undergraduate degree beginning in 2015. The student must be under the age of 23 on December 31, 2014.

Pro Vice-Chancellor International Professor Roberto Rabel said that Victoria has welcomed top students from the ASEAN region for more than 50 years, and they look forward to welcoming more students in 2015, the year in which New Zealand celebrates 40 years of diplomatic relations with the ASEAN region.
