Pacquiao vs Algieri boxing fight pay-per-view price is affordable

Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao defends his welterweight title against undefeated American Chris Algieri on Saturday, November 22, at the Venetian Macao Cotai Arena at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT, (November 23 in the Philippines).

Pacquiao, boxing’s only eight division world champion, will again test his command on the Pay-Per-View sales. Pacquiao is No. 2, behind Floyd Mayweather Jr., when it comes to drawing people to purchase the event live on Pay Per View.

Pacquiao already generated a minimum of $700 million in pay-per-view revenue and he is one of the five greatest figures in the pay-per-view history (Oscar Dela Hoya, Evander Holyfield, Mayweather JR. and Mike Tyson), according to Yahoo Sports.

With the high anticipation of the boxing fans, this Pacquiao vs Algieri will absolutely generate probably around one million buys. However, Pacquiao’s commanding power in PPV’s has decreased in the last three years. It has been more than four years when he last knock out an opponent, against Ricky Hatton in 2009.

Millions of boxing fans like the way Pacquiao has been fighting, especially his aggressiveness against his opponents. His recent defeat to Manuel Marquez allowed Pacquiao to shift his style of boxing. In his fight against Timothy Bradley, the congressman from the Philippines was a little bit curious about being defensive.

“Manny Pacquiao broke the mold and blazed a very unique trail for the following reasons,” said Mark Taffet, the senior vice president of PPV at HBO Sports. “He’s not a heavyweight. He wasn’t an Olympian. He’s not from the very vibrant Latino or African-American demographic segments. He’s not American. He’s the only top non-American in that top five.

“But what he is, is a young man from the Philippines who is as humble outside the ring as he is courageous and electrifying inside of it.”

The Pacquiao vs Algieri HBO pay-per-view cost or price is $59.99 on Comcast and Dish in the United States.
