Philippine Weather update: Typhoon Hagupit gains strength

Hagupit is continuously gaining strength as day goes by. PAGASA, the Philippines’ Weather Bureau reported, as of 5:00 AM Wednesday, December 3, Typhoon Hagupit is at the location 1,670 km east-southeast of Siargao Island. It has a maximum sustained wind of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of 185 kph.

It is moving towards West-Northwest at the speed of 31 kph towards Western Micronesia.
According to PAGASA, Hagupit will be passing near the south of Yap Island late this afternoon and soon will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning. It will be called “Ruby” when it reaches the Philippine area of responsibility.

PAGASA reminded the people in Visayas and near areas to be ready and be vigilant.
By Thursday Early Morning, it will continue to intensify as it enter the Philippine area of responsibility. It is approximately about 1,065 km east-southeast of Siargao Island at 2 a.m., December 4, 9.3N 135.8E at the speed of 185kph.

The following day, Friday early morning, Hagupit will strengthen to near-Super Typhoon strength while moving across the southeastern part of the Philippine Sea. It is approximately 625 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 2a.m., December 5, 10.8N 131.4E at the speed 215kph.

SATURDAY EARLY MORNINg, hagupit will attain Super Typhoon strength as it slows down over the Philippine Sea, closer to Eastern Samar. It is approximately about 370 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar at 2a.m., December 6, 11.4N 128.8E at the speed of 220kph.
According to the Weather Forecast, Hagupit possibly be having a land fall in the Philippine area.
