Feb. 25 is a holiday for schools only, marks 29th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution

Manila, Philippines – The office of the President declared February 25 as special holiday to commemorate the 29th Anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution, that dethroned the regime of then-president Ferdinan Marcos, in accordance with the Proclamation No. 831 signed by President Benigno Aquino III.

Government and private offices have their normal operation on Wednesday because Feb. 25 is a special holiday for schools only.

The Philippine government’s official twitter, @govph, posted: “#walangpasok, February 25, 2015, Wednesday, is a special holiday FOR SCHOOLS ONLY.”

“Batay sa Proclamation No. 831 na inilabas noon pang Hulyo 2014, ang darating na ika-25 ng Pebrero ay may pasok para sa lahat. Ang holiday o walang pasok ay para lamang sa lahat ng mga mag-aaral o estudyante”, Coloma said over government radio.

Feb. 25 has been a special holiday since 2010 when the President signed the Proclaimation.

On February 25, 1986, millions of people were united to oust the 21-year reigned of Marcos in the country. This day was the start for Corazon Aquino take the role as the leader of the country.
