Former NSA Adviser Gonzales plotting a coup, says Trillanes

Manila, Philippines – On Monday Senator Antonio Trillanes III disclosed that ex-National Security Adviser (NSA) Norberto Gonzales is linked to a plot to ouster the Aquino Administration.

Trillanes said he got number of reports about Gonzalez’s part in efforts to topple the government amid public outrage over the Mamasapano encounter that left 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos killed on Jan. 25.

Trillanes said in an interview with the reporters that Gonzales has no power over the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

However, in ANC program Headstart, Gonzales has denied the allegation that his is planning a coup with other groups.

“I will not engage in a coup and I will never support a coup because that is against my personal principle,” he said.

In admission, Gonzales mentioned of knowing the people who are planning to remove the President from his office.

The former NSA chief accused Senator Trillanes of a fishing expedition in linking him to the alleged coup. He even challenged Trillanes to mention the time and place of the meeting of the people who were allegedly part of the attempt.

“Wala akong meeting na nagpa-plano ng kudeta. All the times I have been in government I have been advising the Armed Forces to always move as an institution,” he said.
