Denzel Bowles scores 34 points as Purefoods beats Barako Bull


Manila, Philippines
– Denzel Bowles pulled off one of his best performances with 34 points and 17 rebounds to help the Purefoods Star Hotshots in trampling down the Barako Bull, 103-96, on Tuesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Bowles dominated the third quarter, scoring 21 points to distance the Hotshots over Barkako. While the game was tied at the half, the powerful game of Bowles made the difference for the separation as Purfoods built a double-digit advantage. Bowles also did a big part in grabbing rebounds and intimidating the offense of the opponents.

Joe Devance found his way into the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Purefoods. Devance was one of the keys for the Hotshots in making the run in the third quarter.

Allein Maliksi had 13 poitns on a 6-for-8 shooting from the field. He played with such poise in the fourth quarter.

Barako started the first quarter well but Purefoods slowly turned the quarter into its favour until the Hotshots lead increased to 15 points in the second quarter. Purefoods took th elead, 46-38, in the second quarter through Devance triple.

The Energy rallied back in a 9-1 spurt through JC Intal’s shooting outside the arc to have a 47-all at the half. Import Solomon Alabi scored 29 points for Barako while Chico Lanete added 21 points for the Energy.

James Yap scored only six points while Ping Pingris added eight points for the Hotshots.

Purefoods recaptured the second spot in the standings over Talk ‘N Text and Rain or Shine, which didn’t play.
