New England Patriots Rumors: Tom Brady is mad at the White House, skips meeting with Obama

Quarterback Tom Brady managed to skip the White House when the entire New England Patriots visited Obama on Thursday. In his past three Super Bowl victories, Brady attended the meeting with George W. Bush in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

The absence of Brady on April 23 created a buzz of the whereabouts of the quarterback, failing to meet the President.

NFL Writer Connor Orr stated that Brady was not in attendance bacause of a prior “family commitment”.

However, the three-time Super Bowl MVP was not with his family when the Patriots travelled to Washington. ESPN reports that Brady was in Gillette Stadium stretching himself while Darrelle Revis was enjoying the meeting with Obama.

Brady was found to be in an Apple Store in New York City, 24 hours later. Interestingly, Brady intentionally skipped the White House for important reasons. The most accepted reason for Brady’s absence in meeting with Obama was about the “Deflategate” joke the White House made in January.

As per Boston Herald:

“White House press secretary Josh Earnest criticized the QB’s PR skills back in the thick of Deflategate after Brady held a news conference to insist he knew nothing about how 11 of the 12 balls in the AFC Championship Game were underinflated. Polls taken after Brady’s appearance showed that, with the exception of New England, the rest of the country didn’t believe him. The next day Earnest took a jab at the Patriots’ field general”.

“For years it’s been clear that there is no risk that I was going to take Tom Brady’s job as quarterback of the New England Patriots,” he said. “But I can tell you, as of today, it’s pretty clear that there’s no risk of him taking my job either.”

Brady had never called a press conference about his snubbing of the White House. Brady had never explained himself the reason behind his absence aside from having a “family commitment” reported by NFL.

At First Take, Stephen A. Smith has to explain himself after being misunderstood that race was the reason Brady missed the trip to the White House.

“It’s utterly ridiculous,” Smith said on WEEI’s “Dennis and Callahan Show” Monday, taking on charges that he might have injected race into the Brady discussion. “You’re going to have bloggers and folks in the media that react to bloggers and they try to use headlines to try to make a story. I never, ever, ever said, nor would I have called Tom Brady a racist. That’s ridiculous, OK. I don’t know the man personally. I don’t engage in such chatter in that regard.

“But more importantly than that, his reputation has been impeccable. He’s been class personified on every level. And it’s utterly ridiculous for people to go that route, but that’s the age that we’re living in. So be it. I’m a big boy, I can take it.”

Smith is known to argue against the Patriots at First Take with Skip Bayless. Just after the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, Smith was reluctant about making Brady as the greatest quarterback ever.

On Friday, Smith first went on ESPN’s “First Take” and took a heat at the Patriots star quarterback before piling on Brady Friday afternoon on his Sirius radio show.

“So Tom Brady couldn’t attend, huh? So Tom Brady couldn’t attend,” Smith said on “First Take.” “But was he there in 2001 when George W. Bush was president? Yes. Was he there in 2003 and 2004? I’m not sure about anything, I’m just simply presenting the question because I got a problem with the fact that the franchise quarterback… the face of New England Patriots, the future Hall of Famer and all of this other stuff. Tom Brady can’t do anything wrong. He passes gas as perfume, OK. That’s how untouchable Tom Brady is but when George W. Bush was president in 2001, 2003, 2004, Tom Brady was there. Tom Brady was there at the White House celebrating.

“But Barack Obama is president of the United States and Tom Brady’s got family commitments. I’m not suggesting anything. I’m simply saying, how come you couldn’t… it’s the president. It’s the president.”

Tom Brady has the last words on what is really the reason why he preferred not to be with President Barack Obama on April 23.
