Philip Rivers Trade Rumors: Chargers GM Tom Telesco says “Rivers is our quarterback”

As the NFL 2015 Draft approaches, trade rumors on quarterback Philip Rivers will continue to lurk around. One of the rumors on Rivers was that the Chargers reportedly making an effort to acquire quarterback Marcus Mariota.

To keep the peace around the Chargers, GM Tom Telesco said that “Philip’s our quarterback and it’s our plan and intent that he’s our quarterback well into the future”.

The 33-year-old quarterback shows discomfort to the Chargers moving to LA. Former Chargers Ladainian Tomlinson commented that he doesn’t believe Rivers will be the quarterback of the Chargers.

“You never want to trade your franchise quarterback. You know that’s never the case. However, in this situation, they might have no choice but to do so. Because I don’t know if Philip (Rivers) wants to be there anymore. I think he has lost confidence in the organization. He’s seen a lot of changes going on and the L.A. thing is valid. Him not wanting to go to L.A. is very valid…” Tomlinson said.

If Rivers wants out of Chargers, then they have to trade him. The biggest possible place to move Rivers would be to Tennessee, which owns the second pick in the 2015 NFL draft. While the Buccaneers are expected to draft FSU’s Jameis Winston, Tennessee will not let go of taking Mariota. To appease both the Chargers and the Titans, a blockbuster trade is needed to happen.

Last season, Rivers threw for 4,286 yards, 31 touchdowns against 18 interceptions. Rivers had 66.5 percent completion in a 379 out of 570 attempts, averaging 7.5 yards per pass.

In the coming days, we will see if Rivers will remain with the Chargers.
