Aguilar shines to lead Ginebra in a win over NLEX

– Japeth Aguilar dropped a winning three-pointer that pushed Ginebra into a 110-107 victory over NLEX on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The mobile forward posted 21 points and six assists to bring Barangay Ginebra into the playoffs of the Governor’s Cup. Aguilar never hesitated to let go of a shot outside the arc that made the Gin Kings the eventual winner.

Asian import Jiwa Kim added 16 points and six assists as he rallied the Gin Kings from a 52-38 disadvantage. He managed to score and to provide the assists for the teams to get back into the ball game. Kim also shot 4-for-10 from the three-pointers and all in the second half.

“I was struggling at the beginning because I was having a cold for the past few days so I was having bad shooting percentage in the first half,” Kim said after the game.

Orlando Johnson an LA Tenorio have 21 points apiece and they combined for 14 rebounds and 12 assists. Center Greg Slaughter had 14 points and eight rebounds. Eman Monfort scored 11 and Dave Marcelo added nine points.

Michael Madanly pulled off a game-high 36 points, five rebounds and four assists for NLEX. Moreover, Asi Taulava added 18 points in a losing effort while Kwame Alexander added 11 points.
