Game 2 NBA Finals Scores and Results: Cavs beat Warriors in Game 2

LeBron James finished 39 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Cavs in a 95-93 OT win over the Warriors to tie the series at 1-1 in the NBA Finals.

Matthew Dellavedova was at the right time at the right place when he got an offensive rebound with 10.1 seconds left. He followed in for a shot but was fouled. Dellavedova knocked down his two free throws and afterwards defended well on Stephen Curry, who missed the final shot of the Warriors.

The Cleveland Cavs have managed to grab the lead, 47-45, at half time of the NBA Finals Game 2. LeBron James has amassed 20 points, six rebounds and five assists. On the other side, Warriors’ Klay Thompson has scored 20 points.

Preview:

The Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday at 8:00 PM ET at the Oracle Arena.

The Cavs look to even the series after dropping Game One on OT, 108-100, despite the 44-point performance of star LeBron James. Down 1-0 in the series and losing Kyrie Irving, who has a surgery last Saturday to repair his fractured kneecap, the Cavaliers may have to rely on Matthew Delladova at the point guard position. Two of the stars, Irving and Kevin Love who are supposed to help James, are out in the Finals, and the Cavaliers have to dig deeper at the bench to survive against the offensive juggernaut of the Warriors.

”(I) understand that we were the underdog coming into the series and with Kyrie being out people are writing us off,” James said. ”So, I mean, that’s fine. That’s fine. I’m motivated to get our guys ready to go tomorrow and we will be ready.”

James comments about “writing us off” have circulated in the media. James understands how to play in the Finals but he has never been in this situation where his co-stars are out. It never did happen at Miami in his four years Finals appearances.

On the postseason, James averages 28.7 points, 10.3 rebounds , 8.1 assists and 1.7 steals to lead in all those categories for the Cavs. Timofey Mosgov averages 1.9 blocks but what he showed in Game One will help the Cavs in a long run. What the Cavs miss will be the 19.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists average of Irving plus his outside shooting and penetration. J.R. Smith averages 13.2 points while Tristan Thompson contributes 8.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

The Golden State Warriors have the depth and the weapons to negate the performance of Cavs James. The Warriors relied on team basketball game with fewer isolations than that of the Cavs in Game One. Stephen Curry will always be the leader going into Game 2 and his all-around shooting will continue to derail the defense of opponents. Despite of being guarded by James at many times in Game 1, Curry managed to escape and to make shots.

”There is no pressure or added pressure, I don’t think, because our goal stays the same,” Curry said. ”We’re not really listening to any outside noise or predictions, or who is favored to do what, because we control what we control. When we go out there and play, we’ve got to play better than we did in Game 1, and that is really our only focus.”

On the postseason, Stephen Curry averages 29 points, 6.5 assists and 1.9 steals to lead all those categories for the the Warriors. Klay Thompson has been special with his 19.8 points per game. Draymond Green has been limited in Game One because of foul trouble but he is expected to play more minutes in Game 2.
