Mexico takes on Bolivia in the opener of the Copa America Group a on Friday at 7:30 PM ET in Vina del Mar.

The Mexicans are confident that they can go deeper and all the way to the finals in this season’s Copa America. Mexico manager Miguel Herrera will not utilize his regular players that played in last year’s World Cup in Brazil, including forward Javier Hernandez, for this tournament to allow them to recuperate for next month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Herrera knows what he is doing and he is believing that his current team for Copa America has enough firepower to beat the opponents. Herrera’s team includes defender Rafael Marquez, who can do the damage against the opposing teams.

“This team is here to reach the final,” Herrera told Mexico sports newspaper Record. “Without a doubt the team to beat in the competition is Chile.”

While Mexico suffered a 2-0 loss to Brazil in a friendly-game on Sunday, they had previously drawn 1-1 over Peru. Mexico, which takes on Chile on June 15 before ending the group stages against Ecuador four days later, is anticipated to reach the knock-out round.

Since joining the Copa America in 1993, Mexico has only once, in 2011, failed to progress beyond the group stages.

Bolivia, hasn’t won in the last five editions of the tournament, has faced Mexico 11 times already, winning just one and losing nine of their previous matchups.

Bolivia manager Mauricio Soria is expected to start 27-year-old striker Marcelo Martins, who has not scored for Bolivia’s national team in more than two years. He is expected to make the difference for Bolivia.

Meanwhile, striker Raul Jimenez and winger Jesus Corona are set to play with such aggression in today’s match up against Bolivia.
