Denver Broncos News and Rumors: Peyton Maning out as a Top-5 Quarterback?

While Peyton Manning is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and is one of the best in the present times as general managers and league executives believe him to be, his ranking in the video game series “Madden” has dwindled and nowhere to be found in the top 5.

Among the top 5 quarterback in the “Madden 16” rankings were Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts.

Though Rodgers, Brady and Luck brought their respective teams deeper in the playoff last season, still Manning’s Broncos’ lost in the divisional round. As a matter of fact, Manning ranked second in the NFL in touchdown passes and fourth in passer rating and passing yards in 2014. With those numbers, it would be hard to keep him out of the top five. He has bigger numbers over Brees and Roethlisberger, and he took his deep deeper last season.

The biggest factor that might have placed Manning out of the elite five would be his age. Surely, the 39-year-old quarterback is being doubted if he could play healthy in 2015. Manning managed to play through injuries in the past and he still was able to lead his team. Probably the lost to the Colts in the playoffs marred his attraction to others.

However, Manning might still have his best this season. He was able to overcome many adversities in the past and his experience will be a great factor in a season that can possibly bring the Broncos back to the Super Bowl.
