Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors and News: Joe Johnson to be with LeBron James in Cavs uniform

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers look upgrade their roster after failing to win the NBA title in June. After signing Kevin Love in a five year maximum contract, the Cavaliers desire to acquire Nets Joe Johnson through a trade.

The Nets and Cavs have been in trade talks that will move Johnson to Cleveland in exchange for Brendan Haywood and his $10.5 million non-guaranteed contract. Anderson Varejao, who was mostly injured last season, is also part of the trade, ESPN reported.

The Cavaliers think that they need another extra firepower in the offense through Johnson, who averaged 14.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assist last season with the Nets. The Cavs will have enough offensive options with Johnson on the wing. Johnson is about to make $24.8 million next season, that would make him the second-highest paid player in the NBA.

Johnson can play small forward and he would be an immediate starter for the Cavaliers next season. This would make Iman Shumpert and JR Smith to be back at the bench, paving the way for the Cavs to have the depth that they needed last season, especially in the playoffs.
