In a repeat of last year’s final, won by Novak Djokovic in five sets, the top-ranked Serb overcame the loss of seven set points in the second set and pulled away to beat the seven-time champion Roger Federer 7-6 (1), 6-7 (10), 6-4, 6-3.

Federer has been victorious in every match in straight sets, including his semifinal win over Andy Murray. Federer delivered 20 aces and 56 winners against Murray. The seven-time Wimbledon champion did exactly what was needed to make a statement in this competition. Federer played with total control against Murray.

The No. 1 player in the world battled his opponent in the semis in straight sets. After losing the first two sets in the fourth round against Kevin Anderson, he bounced back by winning the next three. Djokovic was motivated enough to play strongly against Anderson despite a day delay after four sets.

Djokovic defeated Federer last year in the finals in a five set classic 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4. However, Federer outlasted Djokovic in the semifinals in four sets, and won the title.

Federer seeks for his 18th Grand Slam title, eight Wimbledon titles and his first Grand Slam since 2012. He is tied with Pete Sampras with seven Wimbledon titles.

Djokovic looks for his ninth Grand Slam title, three Wimbledon title, and second Grand Slam title in 2015. Djokovic has to bring all his weapons to dispatch the 33-year-old Federer.
