Seattle Seahawks News and Rumors: Russell Wilson was offered $ 21 M per year contract, will he accept it?

While training camp is about to start, the Russell Wilson contract deal rumors will not go away. In the latest of Wilson’s contract, the Seattle Seahawks made an offer worth close to $21 million per season with a significant amount of guaranteed money, as reported by Profootballtalk.com.

However, the problem lies on the acceptance or denial of Russell on the offered deal. According to the report, Wilson wants more than what was offered. While the Seahawks are doing everything to make Wilson happy, it seems that the quarterback wants to be the highest paid quarterback in the league.

If Wilson does not sign a new deal, Seattle can franchise tag on him that would allow him to make more than $20 million in 2016. Wilson led the Seahawks into the Super Bowl, losing to the Patriots, last season. He threw for 3,475 yards, 20 touchdowns against seven interceptions, while running 849 yards and six touchdowns.

Still, the Seahawks are not convinced that Wilson was the primary reason of getting them into two consecutive Super Bowls. Others perceived that Seahawks’ defense was the key for the successful runs in the regular seasons and playoffs in the last two years.

Russell is about to enter into the final year of his rookie contract and is to make $1.54 million. If he wants to be the highest paid quarterback, then he should be paid more than $22 million per season. Currently, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers leads the NFL with $22 million per season. Rodgers is followed by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ($21.85 million), Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton ($20.8M), Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan ($20.75M) and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco ($20.1M).

Will Russell be able to get the deal that he wants before Seattle starts the training camp on July 31?
