The Malacañang Palace issued a suspension of work in parts of Metro Manila for next week’s hosting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Pasay City.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdia provided the order by the authority of the President through Memorandum Circular No. 18.
For clarity, not the entire Metro Manila is affected by the by the suspension especially the 27th of April which the cities of Pasay, Makati and Manila in the government sector are only included. On April 28, the entire Metro Manila (government and private) will have their work off.
When it comes to the educational institutions, all levels in Metro Manila are suspended on April 28. On the other hand, suspension of classes in the cities of Pasay, Makati and Manila on April 27 shall be left to the discretion of their respective heads.
The ASEAN Summit will be conducted from April 26-29 at the Philippine International Convention (PICC). All the nine leaders of the ASEAN are anticipated to attend.
